I’m not a fun person. Let me qualify that – I’m not fun in the traditional sense.
I don’t dress up for Hallowe’en and I have never met an April Fools Day prank that I didn’t think was stupid. When people send me funny jokes by e-mail, the joke gets deleted immediately and the sender receives a message requesting removal from the group list since I have no time for such nonsense. There is a long list of things that prove that I’m not a fun person.
So imagine the surprise my neighbours got this Hallowe’en when I was trick or treating with the kiddos while carrying the baby in the sling – they’d ask to have a peek at wee Finian so I’d pull down the sling to expose this:

OK, so maybe I’m not fun – just a little weird. But mamas can go a bit crazy on Hallowe’en too. This is my friend Astrid when she was expecting her daughter. I’m happy to report that baby Harper is much cuter than the alien shown here:

that is horrendous and hilarious all at once! i bet the neighbours got quite a kick out of it.
(I like that way better than that ha-ha-ha-not-so-much prank of pretending to drop the baby when it’s actually a doll. I saw a clip of that on an America’s funniest home videos once, where the dad was bringing babe in from the nursery and dropping it on the floor. I turned to my husband and expressly told him if he ever did something like that I would kill him and divorce him, not sure in what order!)
Hope the kiddos had a good time and that the facepaint came off the baby
(j/k i know it was a doll)
I just emailed hubby with a link to your blog and said “Forget belly pumpkin painting! THIS is what I want to be next halloween!!”
Awesome pics!! Awesome ideas!!!
Ohhh that is super creepy!!!!
Where did you find such a thing!
Great costume! I can’t imagine what a creepy shock that would be! Fun Halloween gag!
Julie, It sounds like you have the same sense of humor my husband does! The baby is hilarious!
Carrie – OK, the dropping the baby gag would be so far removed from my sense of humour!
The zombie baby is so creepy…I got it at some cheesy hallowe’en shop. It works so well when you have a newborn. Some neighbours had not met the babe yet so were all “oh, let me see the BABY!” Others who see the babe regularly were all “Let’s see little Fin’s costume!!” So there were so many wonderful opportunities!
I DO NOT anticipate having a newborn next hallowe’en so zombie baby is up for grabs for whoever wants it!
Love it! That’s TOO funny. Those opportunities must have been too much!
Creepy and Funny and CRAZY… I love practical jokes and this one takes the CAKE! I can just hear the SCREAMS!
I am having my 3rd baby in May and I think this may be a perfect idea for Hallowe’en 2010. I can only imagine the surprise that everyone will get if I borrow your idea!!
