Yes! It’s true! We are so in love with our BlogHer’09 experience that within 10 minutes of the NYC announcement we bought tickets! And we have one for you and one for your friend.

If you do not have access to a webcam or vidcam, find me! I am shooting videos on the Ballroom Level this afternoon (Saturday). I’d love to meet you!
Rules:
The “submitter” = a registered participant of BlogHer’09
The “wish-ee” = a non-registered participant of BlogHer’09
- Both parties must reside in the continental US or Canada.
- Prize includes: Full conference sponsorship, transportation (up to $800 each), one shared room at the Hilton (BlogHer location) for 3 nights.
- Videos should be 1minute or less.
- Videos can be hosted wherever you like, simply provide the link to @mabelhood
- Once submitted, you will be directed to a form to provide further details about your submission.
- Mabel’s Labels has the right to republish the submissions for purposes related to the contest.
- The winners will participate in the contest as Mabel’s Labels representatives (you know, hand out swag & stuff).
- Videos will be accepted through @mabelhood (twitter) until Tuesday July 28th, 2009 at 12am est.
- Mabel’s Labels will choose 10 finalists. They will be notified on Friday July 31.
- The final winner (and wish-ee) will be chosen at random at the Mabel’s Labels Headquarters in Hamilton ON. The announcement will take place on Tuesday August 4th, 2009.

I’m not sure I understand this contest.
Why is it only open to those who already have a friend at BlogHer ’09? It feels as though you are trying to keep the BlogHer crowd restricted to those who are already approved by the “in” crowd. Those of us who do not already have a clique to join are not welcome.
I think all voices can make a difference at BlogHer. I have a small blog with a small audience; although I read and comment on hundreds of other blogs, I don’t have a “sponsor” at BlogHer ’09 who is going to beg for me to be there. All of my best bloggy friends, like me, could not afford to go to BlogHer this year, when the economy is a little rough and we’re all in an iffy boat.
Now I find that the fact that we couldn’t afford the trip this one year means we’re not eligible to win a trip for next year, either. Only those who already have a sponsorship or make a good enough living from their blog to already be able to afford the trip can go. It doesn’t seem fair.
I think BlogHer ’10 would be enriched by the addition of new voices, new points of view, and attendees who have never had the chance to go before. I think you should open your contest to bloggers or pairs of friend bloggers who couldn’t make ’09, but would love to go to ’10.

Thanks for your comment. We decided to hold the “Wish You Were Here” BlogHer10 Contest since there were so many folks at BlogHer’09 saying how much one of their other friends would love to be there. Our very point is to get new people there and listen to someone kindly thinking about their friend who could not be in Chicago. We are so moved by how people were wishing that their friends could be in Chicago at BlogHer ‘09 and the stories they told us. The fun with this contest was to get folks to try and get a friend to BLogHer10 who for whatever reasons couldn’t swing it for BlogHer’09. Keep and ear and eye out for more Mabel’s Labels BlogHer10 sponsorships in the future. I would love for you to enter one of our contests again especially since your entry to our BlogHer ’09 Contest was so touching.
