I can totally relate to the dinner invitations and major assistance when Dad is on his own - on the very rare occasions when I have been away on my own, family and friends immediately call up to have Dad over with the kids to help him out. It doesn't happen so much when he's away and I'm on my own, which occurs far more frequently.<br />Sometimes people don't realize 1) These Dads really are perfectly competent, and 2) just because Moms are so good at it and do it all the time, doesn't mean we wouldn't love the help (and company) when we're on our own. Hear hear!
