The Mabelhood is the sum of all blogs, combining posts from Mabel Labels' bloggers Julie Cole, Caitlin Madden and a cast of guest bloggers. The Mabelhood documents the daily dramas of a group of people raising families and a label making business, plus everything else in-between.

"three kids at home who are aged one, three and five."

Um. There are no circumstances under which would I consider that a holiday.

That's right up there with daddy's "babysitting" their own kids!

Hear hear! I can totally relate to the dinner invitations and major assistance when Dad is on his own - on the very rare occasions when I have been away on my own, family and friends immediately call up to have Dad over with the kids to help him out. It doesn't happen so much when he's away and I'm on my own, which occurs far more frequently.
Sometimes people don't realize 1) These Dads really are perfectly competent, and 2) just because Moms are so good at it and do it all the time, doesn't mean we wouldn't love the help (and company) when we're on our own.
